Melissa's Flute

This was a Christams gift to my daughter Melissa, who is a collector of turtles as well as a woodcarver.  The turtle was supposed to be carved into the 'bird', but when I inlaid the stone for ornamentation the muse struck and out came the detail burner.  The 'bird' is black walnut, the flute body is hickory, and the stone is... I don't know.  It was in a handful I collected from craft shows that year specifically for my flutes.  It seemed right for this flute.
