This was comissioned by a local gun collector. It took him a year of reminding me before I took him seriously enough to price the job. The top is laminated from seven pieces of 2" thick cherry. The sides were shaped by running several table saw cuts at different depths and fence settings. It was then wasted out with a gouge and scraped smooth with cabinet scrapers. The ribbons are for Best-of-Show at the 1997 Mohawk Valley Art and Woodcarving Assoc. Show and Competition. It took three months before my head fit comfortably into the minivan again.
