This is a commission that started out as a Santa with a snowy owl. Well, my client decided she would rather have an angel, then an angel releasing a dove... hey, I love a challenge. The pattern was worked out on the computer using Corel Draw 3, and I started with two pieces of basswood laminated into a single 'T' shaped block (as seen from above). The hands were carved seperate so I could keep doing them until they were right. Also, the grain could be run in the direction of the fingers for strength. The sash is gold, and the tops of the angel's wings are dry brushed with gold.
